CALGARY -- Mikael Kingsbury has won almost everything there is to win in mens moguls. The prize hes missing is the biggest, and the chance to win it is on the near horizon. The 21-year-old from Deux-Montagnes, Que., is the reigning world champion and has won the World Cup overall title in moguls the last two years. Kingsbury is the heavy favourite to win Olympic gold in Sochi, Russia, next month. His chief rival for gold is Canadian teammate Alex Bilodeau, who happens to be the defending Olympic champion. Kingsbury added to his expanding coffers of hardware Saturday by winning a World Cup in Calgary. Kingsbury and Bilodeau were 1-2 in the final ahead of Patrick Deneen of the U.S. in third at Canada Olympic Park. Montreals Justine Dufour-Lapointe edged American Hannah Kearney for gold. Justines sister, Chloe, was third ahead of Andi Naude of Penticton, B.C., who finished fourth. Kingsbury extended his winning streak at the Calgary stop on the World Cup to four straight years. "Calgary is the best World Cup for me all over the world so far," Kingsbury declared. "I feel like home everywhere in Canada. For sure I cant wait to ski in Quebec, but this year the course was awesome. "I felt very confident today. Thats the biggest point. I felt very good and in very good shape. Its looking good for Sochi." The Canadian freestyle team earned seven out of a possible 12 medals in Calgary and placed another four athletes in the top five. The host country swept the mens halfpipe medals Friday with Justin Dorey of Vernon, B.C., Calgarys Noah Bowman and Matt Margetts of Penticton finishing first to third respectively. Freestyle halfpipe will make its Olympic debut in Sochi. The freestyle and short-track speedskating teams are expected to be the drivers of Canadas medal haul in Sochi, where the countrys goal is to win the overall medal count. Bilodeau, Kingsbury and Justine Dufour-Lapointe have already qualified for Canadas Olympic team. Kingsbury leads the World Cup standings again with his second victory this season. In moguls, a skiers results are determined by their time down the course and judges scores on their style and two jumps. Kingsbury scored 86.50 points followed by Bilodeau with 84.76. The Canadians had higher degrees of difficulty on their air elements than Deneen, who posted the fastest run time and scored 78.16. Bilodeau did not speak to reporters in Calgary after his performance, nor did the 26-year-old participate in a conference call scheduled for later in the day. Bilodeau looked unhappy after the race. His coach Michel Hamelin confirmed that Bilodeau felt he deserved better scores from the judges, and also that Bilodeau was undergoing post-race treatment at the time of the conference call. "Right now, hes in treatment for a massage for his legs," Hamelin said. "Today at the course, he was down about the result. "He felt that when he skis right now, even if he does his best, he feels that he skis with a rock in his pocket. "Right now, the gap (between Bilodeau and Kingsbury) is a bit too much from the judges. If were second with a little bit tighter score well be fine with it. He was kind of upset about why am I not closer to him? "Were really above everyone, but those two guys should always be really tight on the score." Dufour-Lapointe won the womens title in Calgary for the second straight year. With a score of 78.53, Dufour-Lapointe edged Kearney, who won Olympic gold in 2010 ahead of silver medallist Jennifer Heil of Canada. "Today, the good thing is I went fast and did clean jumps and thats how I win," Dufour-Lapointe said. "To win a gold medal at home, its incredible." Kearney scored 77.63 points followed by Chloe Dufour-Lapointe with 74.83. A third Dufour-Lapointe sister, Maxime, qualified for the six-skier final and finished fifth. "Im so happy she made this super final for us," Justine said. "I just wish we could be the three of us at the Olympic Games." Dufour-Lapointe and Kearney are tied atop the womens World Cup standings after two events. The moguls team has World Cup events in Deer Valley, Utah, Lake Placid, N.Y., and Val St. Come, Que., this month before heading to Russia. Every Canadian medallist in Calgary receives a $5,000 bonus from WinSport, which operates Canada Olympic Park. "Yeah, I knew it was going to eventually happen. Im glad that it did," point guard Raymond Felton said. "It was a good night to happen in Brooklyn, then we came back tonight and showed it wasnt a fluke. Thats what a lot of people were trying to say. We came out tonight to really prove that." They sure did, once again looking more like a juggernaut than a joke. Carmelo Anthony had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and New York snapped a seven-game home losing streak by beating the Orlando Magic 121-83 on Friday night for its first victory at Madison Square Garden since October. "We got tired of losing. Whether we figured everything out in two games, thats yet to come, but well take these two wins," Anthony said. Andrea Bargnani and J.R. Smith each added 17 points for the Knicks, who followed their 113-83 rout of Brooklyn on Thursday with an even more powerful performance, giving them consecutive victories for the first time this season after a nine-game losing streak. "At some point it was going to get unleashed," Felton said. "Brooklyn was just the team that got the first wrath of it, so everybody else is going to have to feel it later on, too." The Knicks hadnt won at home since beating Milwaukee in their season opener on Oct. 30. The seven-game skid had matched the longest in franchise history, set during the 2007-08 season. They ended it emphatically, just missing the biggest victory in the NBA this season, the Clippers 39-point rout of Chicago on Nov. 24, according to STATS. "I think the results of their game in Brooklyn carried over to this game," Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn said. "They shot the ball extremely well like they did in Brooklyn, so there you have an NBA game for you." The Knicks made a season-best 17 3-pointers -- a night after hitting 16 -- and turned it into another easy night for Anthony, who took only 10 shots one night aafter attempting only 12.dddddddddddd "I wanted to try to do something a little different to see if it worked," he said. "Me scoring 30 wasnt working." New York moved ahead of the Nets and out of last place. Despite their struggles, the Knicks (5-13) are only 2 1/2 games behind first-place Boston in the pathetic Atlantic Division, and can move even closer when they host the Celtics on Sunday afternoon. Arron Afflalo scored 20 points for the Magic, who dropped their fourth straight. Victor Oladipo added 17 points and nine rebounds. Amare Stoudemire sat out for the Knicks, still not ready to play on back-to-back nights after off-season knee surgery. No matter, as Metta World Peace picked up the extra minutes and scored 12 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 15 and Felton had 14. The Knicks broke it open by outscoring the Magic 30-15 in the third quarter to open a 20-point lead. The highlight came on a ferocious drive and dunk by Iman Shumpert. Orlando fell to 1-8 on the road, running out to a quick start but then getting run over from there. The Magic hit six of their first seven shots, including all three 3-pointers, to storm to a 15-5 lead. The Knicks started 2 for 12 but eventually got going and trailed just 31-28 after one. The Knicks answered with five 3-pointers in the first 4 minutes of the second quarter, going ahead 43-35, and took a 59-54 advantage into halftime. "They put us in tough situations," Orlando guard Jameer Nelson said. "We just have to recognize situations and get better at them so it (doesnt) happen again." Nelson was back for Orlando after missing three straight games with a sprained left foot, but leading rebounder Nik Vucevic missed his second in a row with a sprained left ankle. NOTES: The Knicks seven-game winning streak against Orlando is their longest active streak against an opponent. They have beaten Milwaukee six straight times. ... Shumpert finished with 10 points and every Knicks player scored. ' ' '
